Learn the basics about foster care and adoption and get your questions answered. Sign up for orientation here.
Complete 21 hours of training. Examples of topics covered include child development and attachment and the effects of trauma and loss. CPR and First Aid training are also required and provided.
Complete an application packet. A physical exam is required as a part of this application, along with a TB screening for all adults in the home; a DMV printout and valid car insurance; and criminal clearances.
Complete a family assessment involving a home inspection and a series of interviews exploring topics such as your family and health history and your motivation to become a resource parent.
When all of the steps are completed and approved, we will invite you to visit our office to officially approve you and your home and celebrate this milestone on your path to parenthood.
