Are you 25 years of age or older?

Do you live in Los Angeles County?

If you are in a relationship, have you and your spouse or significant other been living together for at least two years?

Are all members of your household interested in caring for a child?

Are you physically and emotionally able to care for a child?

Can you confirm that neither you nor anyone in your home has had a DUI within the past five years?

Are all of the adults in your home willing to have a TB test?

Are all the adults in your home willing to have a criminal and child abuse clearance?

Do you have sufficient income to cover your family’s needs and provide for the foster child’s basic needs until you are reimbursed? (Reimbursements occur in the month following care).

Do you have enough bedroom space in your home for everyone, including another child?
-- Everyone in the home must sleep in a bedroom and in their own, age appropriate bed.
-- No bedroom may be a pass through to another room.
-- No more than two children may use/sleep in one bedroom.
-- Children over the age of two may not share a bedroom with an adult.
-- Children over the age of five may not share a bedroom with a child of the opposite sex.

Do you have UL listed smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors installed in your hallways and bedrooms?

Are weapons and ammunition locked in separate locations?

If you have barred windows, are there breakaway bars on at least one window in each bedroom?

Will you obtain First Aid and an age-appropriate CPR certificate?

Are your pool, spa and/or other bodies of water (fountain, ponds, etc.) fenced, gated and locked?

Will all of the medicines (over the counter and prescription) in your home be locked up?

Will all hazardous items in your home be made inaccessible and all poisons locked up?

Are you willing to formally agree not to use any type of corporal punishment on a foster child or any other child in your home? This includes but is not limited to, spanking, shoving, hitting with a hand or belt, pinching, pulling hair, denying a child meals, etc.

Are you willing and able to provide full time supervision to every foster child in your home including teenagers?

Do you have 3 or fewer indoor pets?

If you have pets, are they child friendly?

Do your pets have current shots and a license?

Do you agree to have a smoke-free (home, property and car) environment?

Do you have a reliable car and clean driving record?

Do you agree to have all children in your home (including biological children) immunized?
